About Bret & Diana Perkey: Our journey began in our first Apex house church. It was there that God offered a front row seat as several families pursued His call to adopt. One couple’s journey to adopt twin boys from Haiti ended just before the earthquake hit. As we viewed the devastation God began to stir our hearts. But rather than to adopt, He called us to serve such hurting children right where they lived.
Before we knew it, we joined our first mission trip and stepped off a plane in Africa. The scale of what we saw gave us a sense of total inadequacy. Thankfully, that is just what God wanted us to learn. He was preparing us to respond to His lead and allow Him to be the source of real change in these little lives.
Over the coming summers, we led many mission trips to Uganda and Kenya to work at two orphanages. Eventually God led us to accept a full-time position with Back2Back Ministries. We are serving now at one of their sites in Mexico, and in 2018 will launch a new site for them in the Dominican Republic.
We are blessed to answer James 1:27 through our role with Back2Back. Their vision to provide holistic care to orphaned children is leading to restored lives of purpose in which these forgotten children become fulfilled and mature Christian adults.
Pray for the Perkeys
- For our family as we are experiencing our first extended separation. We have two older children who remain in the states for school while our youngest is with us but separated from friends, family and all she has known.
- For discernment and wisdom as we make decisions with Back2Back leadership regarding the launch of the new ministry site in the Dominican Republic.
- For those we will serve. Many are experiencing neglect, abuse and exploitation as you read this. God has a plan for their lives but the road to restoration will be long.
- For our Spanish language skills to improve through continued study and immersion.

Message for Apex:
Eph. 2:8-10 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
God is calling us into a relationship with the lost and hurting, whether that is next door in your neighborhood or across the world.
As we contemplate ALL that Christ has done for us... the sacrifice, the forgiveness and the grace...how can we not be compelled to daily DIE, carry our CROSS and 'SACRIFICE' what this world seems to think is SO important... to allow us to touch the lives of the hurting and lost who are SO important to the heart of Jesus.
