Pray for Muslims during Ramadan

About Ramadan: Every year, Muslims all around the world spend 30 days in fasting and prayer. This year Ramadan lasts from sunset Friday, May 26th to sunset Saturday, June 24th. During this time, Muslims participate in this 4th pillar of Islam as a way of drawing close to Allah and receiving forgiveness for sins from the past year. From the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah, “When Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained up.”

Muslims believe that Allah redeems people after the fast is broken each day. After the fast is broken, Muslims gather together every evening and eat meals that have been prepared during the day. This is a time of celebrating and fellowship with other Muslims. Ramadan is also a time when Muslims, in their seeking for Allah, are encountered by Jesus. Dreams and visions of Jesus lead to further questions and seeking after the One who offers hope. This is a time where Jesus followers of the world should be in prayer that Jesus would encounter many Muslims and that other believers will be able to come alongside them to disciple them.

Pray for Muslims during Ramadan: Pray that Muslims in America and around the world encounter the One who can truly save. Specifically pray for boldness for Muslim Background Believers and other Jesus followers to be ready for any question Muslim friends and neighbors may have. Pray specifically for Muslims in the Greater Dayton region, that they would know the love of Jesus and see it line up with the love they receive from His followers.

Challenge: Muslim people groups around the world are peoples to be loved. Many do not have friends outside of Islam. Jesus followers have the privilege of loving Muslims in the same way that Jesus loves us. Be a friend, be a learner, and show them Jesus in word and deed.
